Sometimes it may seem that the opportunities for adaptive sports, to learn about new technologies relating to the disability community, and even the ability to come together are few and far between.
One expo has been changing that for more than three decades.
And as you may already know, any opportunity we have to feature a place where people of all abilities can get together to play sports or grow as a community, is an opportunity we gladly make use of. This is one of those opportunities.
Introducing the Abilities Expo
Many of you may already know about the Abilities Expo, as it takes place six times each year in different cities across the United States.
But, for those that don’t know much about it, the Abilities Expo brings assistive technologies, adaptive sports, workshops on issues that matter, and more, all to one location.
One of those locations is the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Chicago.
And, even better yet, the expo is free to attend.
Chicago Abilities Expo
The exhibitors area for the Chicago Abilities Expo includes vendors from categories such as assistive technology, bathroom equipment, daily living aids, clothing, legal services, residential programs, and travel services.
Additionally, throughout the expo there will be adaptive sports demonstrations including rowing, quad rugby, wheelchair basketball, self defense, and wheelchair tennis.
The next Chicago area Abilities Expo will be held June 12-14, 2015.
