September is a month known for many things: back to school month, the end of summer, the start of the NFL regular season. But for the approximately 300,000 people who suffer from spinal cord injuries (SCI), September is also a month that brings awareness to their lives, their injuries and their quest for better treatment.
September is National Spinal Cord Awareness Month.
About SCI Awareness Month
Throughout the month, many organizations and advocacy groups will bring awareness to the people who live in the United States with an SCI.
Every 48 seconds, a person in the US will paralyzed. It is the hope of SCI Awareness Month and those involved that people will support more treatments and healthcare initiatives for those in need of them.
