Muscular Dystrophy (MD) is a disease that affects millions of people every year, both directly and indirectly. To bring awareness and raise funds for MD research, the MDA hosts an annual Muscle Walk.
Rather than have one big event in just one city or a touring event that moves to select cities, the Muscle Walk is an event that happens in over 100 cities over the next few months. This makes it incredibly easy to get involved.
But How Do I Get Involved?
Getting involved in the Muscle Walk is incredibly easy. First, visit this website here to find the closest one to you.
They suggest you form a team and all sign up together. That way you’re more motivated and you can ultimately help raise more money. The official website gives plenty of tips on how you can raise more money.
What is the Money For?
All money raised goes directly to the MDA. For every dollar donated, 77 cents is put into research, health care services, and educational programs all revolving around MD.
About the MDA
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a non-profit organization devoted to finding treatments and cures for MD as well as raising awareness to the general public. It is the largest nongovernmental funder of scientific research and has helped progress towards treating over 40 neuromuscular diseases.
The MDA is considered a “Top-Rated Charity” by the American Institute of Philanthropy and is also a member of the Better Business Bureau.
We think the Muscle Walk is a very easy way to assist in a great cause. If you or someone you know participates in one of the Muscle Walks, please let us know! You can also post something on our Facebook. We would love to see some pictures.
