One of the most important events a kid experiences is prom. Getting dressed up, getting picked up by your date, and following the glamorous evening with a night of fun.
Night to Shine
NFL Quarterback Tim Tebow wants to make prom night a reality for kids with specific needs. On February 13, 2015, he will be hosting this event called “Night to Shine” as a special Valentine’s prom event for about 7,000 kids with disabilities.
As Tim is organizing 45 proms around the world, he states that “the special needs community will shine on this night”.
The proms will taking place at churches in 26 states and in Uganda and Kenya and will be open to kids ages 16 and older.
The Tim Tebow Foundation is providing $600,000 to fund “Night to Shine” and each prom will have limousine rides, a red-carpet entrance with paparazzi, a dance floor, hair and makeup beauty stations, shoeshines, food and more!
Sounds like an event definitely worth driving your wheelchair vans to!
The Tim Tebow Foundation
Tim Tebow’s birth was a miraculous story that has inspired him to reach out and benefit the lives of others through his foundation. His mother caught a severe infection that doctors treated with strong medication, only to find out that she was pregnant. The doctors said she would need to have an abortion, because the baby either be born with serious disabilities or not survive at all from taking the strong medication.
The Tim Tebow Foundation started in 2010. The mission is “to bring Faith, Hope, Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need.”
“We are so excited to be able to create this opportunity for thousands of people around the country with special needs. This event perfectly fits our mission to bring faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need,” said Tim in a press release for “Night to Shine”.
